A former senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to make up for his absence at the burial of Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, his Chief of Army Staff, who died in an aeroplane crash in Kaduna on Friday, along with other officers.
The Army Chief was enroute Zaria, a military town in Kaduna, for the Passing Out Parade of newly trained soldiers at the Nigerian Depot.
The military jet encountered bad weather at the Kaduna Airport while preparing to land on the runway. It exploded and killed all passengers onboard.
President Buhari was absent at the burial of the officers in Abuja. That outraged Nigerians who wondered how Buhari could fly to France for a submit just a week ago but failed to attend the burial of his Army Chief in Abuja.
But Sani thinks Buhari can still mitigate the damage.
He tweeted: “The President should visit the bereaved families of the late COAS and other deceased officers, in order to make up for that unconscionable absence at the interment.”
