An online poll on the website of Sahara Reporters has shown more Nigerians asking President Muhammadu Buhari to resign his position as Nigeria’s president.
Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, the senator representing Abia South in the National Assembly, had on Wednesday, January 29, asked President Buhari to resign his position as Nigeria’s President over the security situation in the country.
The news website, Sahara Reporters, then ran a poll asking Nigerians whether Buhari should resign or not.
As at the time of writing this report, 71 per cent of the respondents supported the call for the President to resign, 16 per cent disagreed while 11 per cent were uninterested in the issue.
Abaribe, the minority leader had asked the President to resign, arguing that the APC-led government has failed on its promise to secure the nation.
But special assistant to the president on media, Garba Shehu, said Abaribe ought to be in prison for signing the bail bond for now fugitive Nnamdi Kanu instead of asking the president to resign.
“He signed the bond for the court to release Nnamdi Kanu on bail, from which moment the suspect disappeared into the thin air.
“Senator Abaribe has failed repeated deadlines to return Kanu to the court for trial, yet he has the effrontery with which to accuse someone of failing to the bidding of the law. This is a man who should have replaced the suspects he failed to produce in the correctional facility,” Shehu said.
