Kefas had earlier been confirmed as the governor of the state by the Appeal Court but NNPP’s Sani rejected the verdict

The Supreme Court on Thursday affirmed the election of Agbu Kefas as Taraba governor.
Delivering judgment, Justice Lawal Garba dismissed the appeal by the New Nigeria People’s Party.(NNPP) and its governorship candidate, Yahaya Sani, for lack of merit.
Professor Sani had asked the apex court to set aside the victory of governor Kefas Agbu in the March 18, 2023 governorship election.

He had alleged non compliance with the Electoral Act, irregularities and other malpractices.
He also asked the apex court to pronounce him the winner of the election on the ground of scoring the majority of the lawful votes cast.
