Obi Cubana’s Abuja night club shut

Popular Abuja club owned by Igbo billionaire hotelier, Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has been shut indefinitely.

The Nigeria’s frontline socialites cum businessmen, has shut his Hustle & Bustle, Abuja club, out of respect for one of his clients, who recently died.

Cubana, on Monday, disclosed the development in an Instagram post he made alongside the club.

“We are closed till further notice. This is due to the loss of our esteemed client,” the statement read.

“We are deeply saddened by this situation and need time to heal from it. Our prayers are with the family of the lost soul. May her soul Rest In Peace. We sympathise with the family on this unbearable loss.

 “Kindly bear with us as we pass through this storm.”

The clubber reportedly died at the weekend in yet unclear circumstances.

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested and detained him for three days over suspicion of tax fraud and money laundering.

Obi Cubana had burst into public consciousness in July, following the lavish burial ceremony he organised for his mother in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State where there was a heavy naira rain and 200 cows reportedly slaughtered.

The ceremony attracted the who’s who in the entertainment industry, including Nollywood stars, politicians and top security personnel.

It was this extravaganza that brought Cubana under the searchlight of the EFCC, which released him on administrative after his brief detention on the understanding that his attention would be needed from time to time until they are done with investigating the matter.

However, Obi Cubana explained his source of wealth and his philosophy about wealth creation. He disclosed how he had been sponsoring budding businessmen and mentoring them until they attained great heights.

Obi Cubana also announced his intention to create 300 new millionaires from Oba, his hometown.
