BREAKING: Obaseki humbles Ize-Iyamu, Oshiomhole, wins second term

At long last, the Edo State governor, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, has been declared winner of the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday, September 19, 2020.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the result of the election at 2.47 pm from the commission’s collation centre and state headquarters of the electoral body on Benin-Auchi Road, Benin, Edo State.

It was a resounding victory.

Returning Officer for the election, Prof Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, said Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 307,955 to beat his closest rival, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 223,619 votes.
