BREAKING: Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Ademola Seriki, dies at 63

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Ademola Seriki, has died in Madrid, capital of Spain at the age of 63.

Seriki died of cancer, according to reports.

Announcing his death on Thursday, his children said in a statement, “It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude to Almighty Allah that we announce the loss of our much-loved and admired patriarch, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, His Excellency, Ambassador Demola Seriki, on December 15, 2022.

“He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Madrid, Spain.”

Ademola Seriki

Born November 30, 1959; Seriki was a former Minister of State for Defence, teacher, businessman, and public administrator. He assumed the position of Nigerian ambassador to Spain in January 2021, with concurrent accreditation as a permanent representative of Nigeria to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

In 2019, the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) seized two property belonging to him after he failed to settle a N1 billion debt.

Back in February 2022, he was accused of high-handedness and flamboyancy.

Seriki drew the ire of some persons when he cut the workforce at the Nigerian outpost in Spain. But the diplomat said there were 25 members of staff at the embassy which should take only about 15.
