An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday sentenced the Medical Director of Optical Cancer Care Foundation, Dr. Olufemi Olaleye, to double life imprisonment for defiling 16-year-old wife’s niece.

An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday sentenced the Medical Director of Optical Cancer Care Foundation, Dr. Olufemi Olaleye, to double life imprisonment for defiling 16-year-old wife’s niece.
Justice Rahman Oshodi held that the prosecution proved the two-count of defilement and sexual assault by penetration against Olaleye.
Oshodi said that the evidence adduced before the court against the defendant was compelling and proved beyond reasonable doubts.
According him, the confessional statement of the defendant, which he made before his lawyer, Mr. Olalekan Buruji and the DPO of Anthony Police Station that he regretted his act, proved that he committed the offences.

The judge said that the oral statement which the defendant denied, had the NBA seal of Buruji on it and his denial did not hold waters.
“You are dangerous offender and you must be ashamed,” he said.
The defendant was arraigned on November 30, 2022, and he initially pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr. Babajide Martins, informed the court that Olaleye committed the offenses sometime between February 2020 and November 2021.
He stated that the incident occurred at No. 17, Layi Ogunbambi close, Maryland, Lagos state.
Olaleye was accused of engaging in sexual activity with his wife’s 15-year-old niece.
He was also charged with inappropriately engaging the teenager in a manner that contravenes Sections 137 and 261 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.
Following his not guilty plea, Justice Oshodi granted him bail in the sum of N50m, with two sureties in similar sums who must possess landed property in Lagos state.
The judge also mandated that both sureties provide evidence of tax payments to the Lagos state government over the past three years.
Justice Oshodi further directed Olaleye to surrender his international passport, including his British passport, and original documents of landed property to the court’s registrar.
During the trial, the convict’s wife, Aderemi Olaleye, testified that her husband had been sexually exploiting her niece during her stay with them.
She recounted that the convict initially introduced explicit material and explicit acts to the victim, culminating in an inappropriate act.
She indicated that this misconduct persisted from March 2020 until July 2021.
The witness conveyed to Justice Oshodi that the girl confided in a relative and their driver about the doctor’s actions. She also stated that the doctor threatened to harm her and the witness if she disclosed the abuse.
