BREAKING: G5 governors arrive Oyo to campaign for Makinde

The G5 governors are demanding the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, who is a northerner to ensure the balance of power in the party’s hierarchy.

The five governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) known as G5 have arrived in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, for the flag-off of the re-election campaign of one of their members, Seyi Makinde.

Leading the pack is Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike. Other members of the group are Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, and Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

The governors arrived at Mapo Hall, venue of the event, at 1 pm Thursday.

The event has drawn party loyalists from all 33 local government areas of the state.

On Wednesday, Makinde and other members of the G-5 were conspicuously absent from the rally held in Oyo for the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Those who attended the rally include former Minister of Federal Capital Territory (State), Jumoke Akinjide, and a former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Wole Oyelese.

Also present were the former Minister of State for FCT, Olajumoke Akinjide; former Oyo Deputy Governor, Hazeem Gbolarumi; and Director Special Duty, PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Femi Babalola (Jogor).

The party stalwarts, youths, women and mobilisers from across the state were seen on major streets in the Ibadan metropolis marching with banners and campaigning for Atiku ahead of the February 25, 2023, presidential election.
