Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele this morning pleaded not guilty to the allegation of approving the printing of N684.5 million banknotes at a cost of N18.96 billion levelled against him in new charges filed by the government.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) presented the allegation in a four-count charge before Justice Maryann Anenih of the Abuja Federal High Court.
The EFCC alleged Emefiele disobeyed the direction of law with intent to cause injury to the public during his implementation of the naira redesign policy of the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
