Alexx Ekubo was the first runner-up in the 2010 Mr Nigeria contest and rose to prominence in the Nollywood blockbuster, Weekend Getaway.

Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has passed away at the age of 40.
His death was announced on Tuesday via an Instagram post shared by fellow actor Godwin Nnadiekwe.
The thespian, who called the late actor a “rare soul”, added that he is finding the news of his death hard to comprehend.
Nnadiekwe wrote: “I’m struggling to find the words. This news has truly broken me. Nollywood has lost a rare soul, and I’m lost for words because this wasn’t the plan, Alexx Ekubo.”
He added: “To think you already prepared your will — it’s a heartbreak I can’t quite describe. Rest well, my friend.”

A Nollywood source, who prefers to remain anonymous, also told Daily Post that Alexx was rushed to hospital on Monday.
The source went on to say the actor had been battling kidney cancer and passed away on Tuesday afternoon after spending hours on life support.
Alexx is considered one of the most bankable and versatile talents in contemporary African cinema.
He was the first runner-up in the 2010 Mr Nigeria contest and rose to prominence in the Nollywood blockbuster, Weekend Getaway.
After the news of his death went viral, it triggered widespread alarm among fans and industry colleagues, many of whom took to social media to express shock at his demise.
