Jude Bellingham, the 20-year-old midfielder, has been instrumental in Real Madrid’s triumph in the La Liga, scoring 19 goals to help secure the title by a 10-point margin. The Stourbridge-born player also made significant contributions in the Champions League, scoring four goals as Carlo Ancelotti’s side reached the final. Real Madrid will face Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on Saturday at 20:00 BST.
Bellingham was awarded the league’s top player honor, edging out teammates Vinicius Jr, Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid, Artem Dovbyk of Girona, and Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski. The award was decided by votes from fans, club captains, and a panel of experts.
Bellingham’s impressive performance follows his previous accolade as the 2022-23 Bundesliga Player of the Season while playing for Dortmund, before his transfer to Real Madrid for an initial fee of 103 million euros (£88.5m).

In a message during Tuesday’s award ceremony, which he could not attend due to preparations for the final, Bellingham said, “I would like to dedicate it to my teammates, the coaching staff and, most importantly, to the fans of the best club in the world. It’s a pleasure every time I play for this team. Hala Madrid.”
With 29 caps and three goals for England, Bellingham is expected to play a key role for Gareth Southgate’s team at Euro 2024 in Germany, starting on June 14. England’s first match is against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen on June 16.
