Basketball: Bakare quits as NBBF Technical Director

Ayo Bakare has resigned his appointment as the Technical Director of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF).

 

In a chat with sports journalists at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos on Tuesday, June 3, the former head coach of the national team said he took decision after due consideration on his personal commitments.

Bakare ditches out instructions to his players during as match.

He said: “The decision to quit is mutually and amicably made. It is not a consequence of, or reaction to any events or incidents, real or imagined.

 

“I have the highest personal and professional regard for the President of the NBBF, Tijani Umar and his administration and fully endorse and support their programs.

In spite of his decision, Bakare said he remains irrevocably committed to the progress of Nigerian basketball and will continue to support and serve Nigerian basketball as sincerely as he had done the past 25 or more years.

 

“I remain equally committed to the success of this current NBBF administration. I have been privileged to discuss with the topmost hierarchy of the NBBF and those discussions were both amicable and cordial.

 

“I have pledged my continuing support for this administration (regardless of whether I’m in an active or reduced role,” he said.

 

Bakare however urged all stakeholders to continue to support the NBBF for the upliftment of Nigerian basketball now and in the nearest future.

 

Meanwhile, Bakare has left the shore of the country on Tuesday evening for US to watch the final of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
