Barcelona set to return with third bid after Man City reject €60m for Rodri

Barcelona are preparing to return with a third bid for Spanish midfielder Rodrigo Hernández Cascante, popularly known as Rodri, in an attempt to prise him away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.

​This was disclosed on Friday in a post shared by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

​According to the Italian journalist, the La Liga giants had initially tabled €50m and €60m to Manchester City, but both bids were rejected.

​He noted that the new amount proposed by Barça is between the last bid and the €80m demanded by the Premier League outfit.

​Taking to his verified handle, Romano wrote:
​”Barcelona are returning with third proposal for Rodri to Manchester City.

“After €50m and €60m packages both rejected, direct club to club talks to continue half way between €60m last bid and €80m fee requested.”

​He added that “Barça remain confident and optimistic” that the deal will eventually be sealed before the close of the transfer window.

​Rodri was signed by Man City from Atletico Madrid in 2019 and has made 196 appearances in all competitions, scoring 23 goals in the process.
