Bola Tinubu has been urged by the Baptist Conference to tackle terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria to enable the country overcome economic hardship and food inflation.
Ogun branch Baptist Conference President Wale Oyeniyi reminded the President that no society can have any meaningful development when buffeted by insecurity.
He was speaking in Abeokuta preparatory to the 47th edition of Conference in Session at First Baptist Church, Oke-Odan in Yewa South Council in Ogun.
“With the level of insecurity in the land, our nation looks like an entity at war against itself. Many of our gallant military men and police have been killed.
“The shedding of the blood of the innocent has been allowed to go on unchecked for far too long, to the extent that the foundation of the unity of the nation is already being threatened.
“The administration of President Bola Tinubu should confront the bane of insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and unprovoked killings so that farmers can confidently go to their farms, travellers can go about their businesses without any fear; rural and city dwellers can sleep with both eyes closed. Justice must also be seen to be served to apprehended culprits.
“This will bring about trust, and healing, and confer credibility on the fight against insecurity. Truly, if and when this and much more is done, creativity and innovation will surge. Investors, both local and foreign, would be confident to invest in the system.
“The economy would thereby heave a sigh of relief. The teeming population of our youth would be more meaningfully engaged; because peace and stability would reign in the land.”
