Bandits free Kad Poly lecturer, daughter, driver still in captivity

Bandits abducted Dr. Abarshi while returning from a village in the Lere local govt area of Kaduna State, where she had gone to distribute clothes to IDPs

Bandits in Kaduna, have released a lecturer of Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Rahmatu Abarshi, who was kidnapped alongside her daughter and driver, three weeks ago.

They were abducted on April 24 along Kachia-Kaduna road, while returning from a village in Mariri axis, Lere local government area of Kaduna State, where she had gone to distribute clothes to IDPs. 

According to Daily Trust, her release was made known by Abdallah Isma’il Abdallah, the Admin Officer of Barkindo Rahama, an Initiative founded by her.  

The Admin officer revealed that she regained her freedom after they had negotiated with the kidnappers but failed to disclose if a ransom was paid.

Abdallah also said that Dr. Abarshi was released on Tuesday night and was taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical check up.

He, however, noted that her daughter, Ameerah, and her driver, who were seized by the bandit along with the lecturer, are yet to regain their freedom.

Tijjani Ramalan, Chairman of Liberty TV also revealed on Thursday morning that ” The lecturer has been released but her daughter and driver  are still in captivity.”

Dr. Rahmatu Abarshi is a known philanthropist in Kaduna State and was the former Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Kaduna Polytechnic (Kad Poly)
