Atiku promises youthful cabinet, under-30 Youth Minister

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku
Abubakar, on Monday announced his decision to run a cabinet that will be made up of 40 per cent youths, as well as, appoint a Minister of Youths, who is below the age of 30 years.

This declaration at a youth town hall meeting in Lagos, the party claimed, was in line with the manifesto of the PDP and Atiku Abubakar’s
commitment towards youth empowerment, through their direct participation in governance, even in critical sectors of our national life.

Speaking at the event, Atiku Abubakar said, “I have pledged that 40
percent of my cabinet will be youths. It is a promise, I will not break
it and my minister of youths is going to be less than 30 years”, noting
that his stance was informed by his firm belief in the ability and
capacity of the Nigerian youth as the future of the nation.

The statement said, “It is indeed refreshing that Atiku Abubakar, who Nigerians rally behind as their next President, offers hope to the Nigerian youth, who have been neglected and disdained by President Muhammadu Buhari as lazy, lovers of freebies and ill-equipped to participate in governance.”

Also speaking at the meeting, the PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Peter
Obi, lamented that the Buhari administration has no regard for the
youth, so much so that it made no remarkable investment in education,
youth entrepreneurship and productivity.
