Atiku moans poverty, hunger escalating “distressing lawlessness”

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lamented the killing of another victim among the 10 people kidnapped from their homes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on January7, reminding President Bola Tinubu of how poverty and hunger have escalated insecurity across the land.

Folorunsho Ariyo, a 13-year-old student, was murdered on Monday from among those kidnapped from Sagwari Estate Layout in Dutse, Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

This happened a day after the killing of another victim, Nabeeha Al-Kadriyat, a 400-level student of biological science at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

“The escalating violence and lawlessness in our nation deeply distress me, as bandits and kidnappers continue their reign of terror unchecked. Our youths and innocent citizens are being murdered daily,” Atiku lamented on his X (Twitter) handle.

“Just last Saturday, we lost Nabeeha to her captors. Yesterday, the tragedy deepened with the murder of more victims, including Folorunsho Ariyo, a 13-year-old student.

“It is obvious that the worsening poverty and hunger in the land is escalating the level of kidnapping and insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in Abuja.

“When the government fails to fulfil its constitutional obligations of protecting the lives and property of citizens, it is an invitation to kidnappers and other criminal elements to have a free reign, visiting houses and hotels in and around the capital city, kidnapping citizens without resistance. This is a sad development.

“It is imperative that the authorities address this dire security situation urgently to regain the trust of the Nigerian people.”

Mr Macaroni cries out, Tinubu wake up! Human life has no value under your watch

Skit maker and social critic Mr Macaroni (real name Adebowale Adedayo) has wondered how Tinubu can sit pretty as President and Nyesom Wike as Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister with terrorists kidnapping and slaughtering FCT residents right under their noses.

Macaroni tweeter in reaction to the abduction of seven family members – Mansoor Al-Kadriyar and his six daughters – in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

One of the victims, Nabeeha, was murdered last Friday by the Islamic jihadits.

The President jetted off to Owerri on Monday to inaugurate Hope Uzodimma for a second term as Imo Governor, in a state where Uzodimma himself is reportedly avoiding visiting his village in fear of being killed by terrorists.

Abuja on fire, Tinubu pretends not to see it; Wike dabbling in Rivers

Tinubu too pretended as though the latest horror did not happen right in his garden in Abuja.

On the podium in Owerri, he thumped his chest for removing fuel subsidy and – as usual – made vague promises of how the current economic hardship would lead to greater things in a country bankrupted by Muhammadu Buhari his cohort.

The FCT is on fire (residents are on edge, farmers cannot harvest their crops) but Wike is preoccupied with scheming to retain his political structures in Rivers and spends more time in the state oiling the wheels and asserting himself.

The terrorists earlier demanded N60 million ransom for each victim and raised it to N100 million after they butchered Nabeeha with the security forces looking helpless.

“It’s so sad to hear about the death of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar,” Mr Macaroni posted on X (former Twitter).

“Six sisters were kidnapped and one had been killed. What is the government doing to ensure that the remaining five are not killed?

“Where is the value of human lives in Nigeria? How many more must die? How many more Nigerians will be sacrificed on the altar of irresponsibility and recklessness?

“The life of every Nigerian matters. The government must rise up and put an end to this barbarism.”
