A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday struck out the bail applications filed by some loyalists of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, linked with the explosion at the state assembly.
The October 30, 2023, explosion came amid alleged moves by some lawmakers to impeach Fubara. It was gathered that some suspected arsonists threw an explosive into the complex around 9:25 pm, causing a fire in the building.
The defendants are Chime Ezebalike, Prince Lukman Oladele, Kenneth Goodluck Kpasa, Osiga Donald, and Ochueja Thankgod.
The police had instituted terrorism-related charges against them following their alleged role in the explosion at the Rivers State House of Assembly in October 2023.
They were also accused of killing some police officers.
However, the first to third defendants applied for bail, citing health conditions.

Ruling on the application on Monday in Abuja, Justice Bolaji Olajuwon rejected the applications.
She held that the defendants were charged with a capital offence bordering on terrorism and murder.
Olajuwon added that there was no evidence of the fact that the facilities at the correctional centre could not meet the health needs of the defendants.
She added that the evidence before the court showed that experts at the health centre were capable and well-equipped to manage the condition of the defendants.
The case was subsequently adjourned till February 8, 2024, for hearing.
