While asserting that he holds no personal grudge against Wike, Dokubo warned that the Ijaw people would not stand by if Fubara were impeached.

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has issued a stern warning against any attempt to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, vowing that such a move would be fiercely resisted by the Ijaw people.
Dokubo made his stance clear in a video posted on social media amid speculations that the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule and aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, was considering Fubara’s removal.
The warning comes as the Amaewhule-led Assembly, whose legitimacy was reaffirmed by the Supreme Court on February 28, gave Fubara a 48-hour ultimatum to resubmit the 2025 budget for approval. The deadline expires today, March 5.
Dokubo cautioned that any effort to oust the governor could destabilise the state, making it difficult for Wike and his allies to operate in Rivers. He urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and call Wike to order.
“If in your government I have to stake everything to tell you the truth, I’m staking everything to tell you the truth. It is left for you to hear, but the result you will see,” Dokubo said, addressing Tinubu directly.
While asserting that he holds no personal grudge against Wike, Dokubo warned that the Ijaw people would not stand by if Fubara were impeached.

“Mr President, if you allow Wike to push this as he is doing, it will be very difficult for him to even come to Rivers State,” he said.
“It will be difficult for those his 27 House of Assembly members to even have a place to stay in Rivers State.
“It will be difficult for anybody if they think they are going to impeach Sim (Fubara) and Ijaw people will allow it.
“It will be difficult to impeach Sim. Mark these words that I am telling you.”
He also referenced past resistance in Ondo and Delta states, emphasising the Ijaw people’s reputation for defiance.
“The earlier you hear this. Call Wike and call Sim. Let them maintain the status quo. That is the only way,” Dokubo concluded.
