Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta might have cleverly sent a January transfer plea to the club owner, Stan Kroenke ahead of the club’s UEFA Europa League against Dutch club, PSV Eindhoven on Thursday evening.

Arteta’s men, who currently sit top of their Group only need a point from their last two games to top the table and this has led to speculations that the Spaniard would likely make wholesale changes to his team when they file out later today.

The Gunners, who had a flying start to the season, after three hard-fought 1-0 wins in a row, eventually drew their first game this weekend against lowly-placed Premier League side, Southampton.

Pundits and fans of the club have traced their recent laboured performances to fatigue, especially with Emile Smith Rowe, Mohamed Elneny and Oleksandr Zinchenko out with injuries.

And with an awful glut of games to come, it seems  Arteta is now worried that his team may not have a big enough squad to survive the remainder of the campaign.

When asked about Arsenal’s injury situation during his pre-match press conference, he said: “We had Marquinhos who wasn’t feeling well today and didn’t travel. For the rest we are OK.”

“We don’t have that many players,” he replied.

“Even the players that we have, we are bringing four kids with us so we can make the squad. We need to put 11 players there and they have to play. We cannot always change 10, 11 players every game.” Arteta added.
