Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has dismissed speculation that he will be leaving his current job at Arsenal to coach Real Madrid.

Arteta dismissed the rumour while speaking to the media ahead of his team’s Europa League clash against Sporting, saying he is “fully focused” on the Premier League club.

The Gunners are top of the league having won 20 of their first 26 fixtures.

The former Arsenal captain, left his role as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City to join Arsenal in December 2019.

He won an FA Cup in his first season at the club but only finished eighth in his first full season, leading to calls for him to be sacked.

However, Arteta survived the dark period and a late collapse last season to turn the team into title contenders this term.

Reports in Europe suggest that Real Madrid are reportedly interested in appointing Arteta as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor.

But when asked about the speculation, Arteta said: “Managers and players can’t control what is written by the press.

“What I can tell is that I’m fully focused on what I’m doing here and extremely proud and grateful to do what I’m doing in this football club. That’s it.”
