Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta is said to be interested in bringing Barcelona striker, Ferran Torres to the Emirates in January, as the Gunners continue to work out their transfer plans.

Arsenal, who currently sit 5 points above defending champions, Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League are set to resume their domestic campaign later this month without their star striker, Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian picked up an injury at the World Cup while playing for Brazil and he could be sidelined until Easter after undergoing knee surgery.

This means Arsenal with Edward Nketiah as the only senior central attacker, will be light on attacking options as they bid to keep their unlikely title dream alive during the second half of the season.

Already, a host of attacking names have been linked with a move to the capital since news of Jesus’ injury emerged, with Arteta seemingly keen on bolstering his squad for the run-in.

However, Jesus’ injury could mean the Gunners will make a swoop for his former Manchester City teammate, Ferran Torres.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal would be interested in bringing the 22-year-old Spanish international back to the Premier League – just 12 months after he left England to join Barcelona in a dream switch.

Arteta worked alongside Torres briefly during his stint at the Etihad and the fact that Torres is versatile enough to fill several attacking roles makes him an attractive proposition.

Meanwhile, Barca boss Xavi Hernandez seems to have ‘lost faith’ in Torres and has given club president Joan Laporta the green light to offload him in January.
