North London club, Arsenal will play in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) for the first time in 7 years next season.

The league leaders book their place as one of English Premier League’s flag bearers on Wednesday night, despite suffering a 4-1 defeat at the Etihad to champions, Manchester City.

The result left Mikel Arteta’s men top of the league with 75 points after 33 matches with five more games to play.

However, Brighton’s 3-1 loss at relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest means the Gunners are assured of a place among Europe’s elite in the 2023/2024 campaign.

This is because as it stands, the worst position Arsenal can finish this season is fourth, as only Man City, Man United and Newcastle who occupy the second, third and fourth positions respectively can leapfrog them.

Arsenal’s last Champions League qualification came on the back of finishing as runners-up behind Leicester City in 2015/2016.

They missed out by a whisker last season after bitter rivals, Spurs came from behind to edge them into the 5th position on the log table.

Their next Premier League (PL) game will be at home against London rivals, Chelsea, after which they will travel to St James Park to face high-flying Newcastle.
