Arsenal extended their lead at the top of Premier League to 4 points after an excellent display, overpowering Tottenham in the north London derby at Emirates Stadium.
Spurs would have leapfrogged their host had they won the derby today but it was Arsenal who carried the day.
The Gunners were superior throughout and Spurs’ cause was not helped by Emerson Royal’s red card for a second-half foul.
Mikel Arteta’s side started brightly and got rewarded for their dominance when Thomas Partey scored from a pass from Ben White in the 20th minute.

The visitors equalised in the 31st minute after Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot after Richarlison was judged to have been brought down by Gabriel in the penalty area.
Arsenal went ahead once again after they were gifted the lead after Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris fumbled badly to allow Gabriel Jesus to score in the 49th minute.
Spurs’ day went from bad to worse by Royal’s reckless challenge on Martinelli that prompted referee Anthony Taylor to produce a straight red card.
The Gunners made the game safe when Granit Xhaka ended the contest with a low finish past Lloris from inside the area in the 70th minute to make it an emphatic 3-1 home win.
