Appeal Court releases names of Justices, promises won’t be determined on ‘technicalities’

Five Justices will from today hear the petitions filed against the victory of Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT), the Court of Appeal has disclosed.
The court named the Justices as
- Haruna Tsammani (Court of Appeal Chief Registrar, Tribunal Head)
- Stephen Adah (Court of Appeal, Asaba Division)
- Misitura Bolaji-Yusuf (Court of Appeal, Asaba Division)
- Boloukuoromo Ugoh (Court of Appeal, Kano Division)
- Abba Mohammed (Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division)
Before the tribunal began sitting this morning, Tsammani the tribunal head gave an assurance that justice will be served.
“We are determined to look at the matter dispassionately and give justice to whoever deserves justice,” he promised.

No technicalities, no delay in proceedings
He assured the tribunal would consider the substance of each case over technicalities so that “whoever leaves here will be satisfied that justice has been done.”
Tsammani warned parties against unnecessary applications that could delay the proceedings, per reporting by The PUNCH.
Five political parties and their candidates are challenging the result of the presidential election on February 25 on grounds of non-compliance with the Electoral Act and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published.
“The petitions to be considered today at the pre-hearing would be the first three petitions while the 4th and 5th petitions can take off tomorrow,” Tsammani explained.
The first three petitions are those filed by
- Action Alliance (AA) and its candidate bearer, Solomon Okanigbua
- Action People’s Party (APP), sole petitioner
- Labour Party (LP) and its candidate, Peter Obi
Tsamman clarified that “we will alternate [the cases] until we finish the pre-hearing.”
The court sits at 10:30am daily.
