Supporters of the All Prograssives Congress (APC) in Bauchi on Sunday took to the streets to celebrate the victory of Muhammed Abubakar who won the April 11 governorship poll in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the supporters had earlier gathered at his Fadama Mada, Bauchi metropolis residence, to celebrate the victory.
Motorists, including motorcycle and tri-cycle owners, over loaded their vehicles with joyful supporters on major streets within the metropolis in celebration.
Places of relaxation within the metropolis went agog, as some prominent people distributed free food, drinks and other items to people.
There was heavy security presence at the main entrance to the residence of the governor-elect who won on the platform of the APC.
The security personnel searched people entering the house and coming into the town in some locations.
The presence of security personnel was also observed in all strategic areas within the metropolis while shops, closed since Saturday, were reopened for business.
