The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has recognised and swore in the Dr. Hilary Ekeh’s newly elected members to run the affairs of the party in Imo State for the next four years.

They took their oath of office on Monday, June 4 at the NWC headquarters in Abuja amid celebration by party faithful and supporters.

With the swearing in, the Ekeh-led camp has fully taken charge of the Imo State APC structure from the wards to the local government and the state. This also signals the end of the agitation by the Governor Rochas Okorocha-led camp that the congresses held recently will be cancelled.

Deputy Governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere, a key player in the efforts to ensure that Imo APC was not sold to the highest bidder told TheNiche that Ekeh would be resuming at the party secretariat latest on Tuesday.

Madumere said Ekeh’s swearing in had put to rest all the speculations about the authenticity of the congresses recently held in Imo State and the claim that they were not credible.

He dismissed insinuations that the resignation of the APC National Convention Secreatary, Senator Ben Uwajumogu will have a negative impact on their group , saying instead, “it will be to its advantage.”

Another NWC source told TheNiche on Monday that Okorocha complained bitterly that it would be unfair to strip him of the structure in the state and also allow one of the men who carried the coup against him to fucntion in that capacity as the Convention secretary.

“On the basis of sympathy, his request was acceded to and Uwajumogu was appealed to stand down and he did being a good party man. He simply found a reason that was convincing enough,” said the source.
