Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has explained why he visited Senator Rufai Hanga of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)—an estranged ally of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso—insisting the move was to promote tranquillity and development in Kano State.
The ruling party’s chairman made this known on Thursday in a statement issued after paying a courtesy visit to the lawmaker.

The meeting comes at a time when relations appear strained between Senator Hanga and Kwankwaso, following a series of unapologetic comments made by the federal legislator.
However, in justifying his meeting with Hanga, Yilwatda insisted that they had focused on issues affecting the state and how political leaders can work together despite belonging to different parties.

”Our discussions were cordial and focused on the unity, peace, stability, and future of Kano State,” he said.
The Plateau State-born politician added that political differences should not stop leaders from working together for the benefit of the people.
He further noted that Nigeria would make greater progress if leaders chose cooperation over political rivalry.
”Nigeria’s progress is best served when we build bridges of understanding, encourage constructive dialogue, and place the welfare of citizens above partisan considerations,” Yilwatda added.
