Chairman of Akoko North West Local Government of Ondo State, Elder Ayodele Akande, has expressed dissatisfaction with the state of the council’s economy and called for urgent diversification.

According to him, it is a known fact across the globe that for a country, state or local government to attain growth and development, its economy has to be diversified.

Akande made this known at the just concluded 30 years anniversary and Fundraising ceremony held at the Secretariat of Akoko North West Local government, Okeagbe Akoko in Ondo state.

He said the resources from Federation Account was no longer enough to take care of the Local needs or to embark on Capital intensive economic ventures that would be a money-making mill in the long run.

His words: “The essence of this celebration is not just a funfair but an avenue to harness the humane and material resources required to develop this local government to an enviable height both economically and infrastructurally.

“The Local government is faced with the infrastructural deficit and our Youths need to be engaged with productive activities in order not to be indoctrinated with destructive social vices.

“I want to assure our guests that whatever Goodwill rendered to us will be judiciously deployed for the betterment of our local government and humanity,” he said.
