ANIYOM engages traditional rulers, restates holding politicians in Akokoland to account

ANIYOM told the Obas that youths are said to be leaders of tomorrow, but since they were born, elders have been in power till date.

A Socio-political group, Akoko North Intellectual Youth Movement (ANIYOM) in Ondo state has emphasized the importance of traditional rulers in its determination to put an end to bad leadership in Akokoland.

The movement during a consultation visit to the council of traditional rulers in Akoko North West, also known as Obas Pelupelu, said that it was time both the electorates and youths begin to demand stewardship from those elected to represent them in order to have a better country.

The President of ANIYOM, Comrade Mayowa Abiola Adojutelegan while speaking at the Obas’ Pelupelu, intimated the obas with the aims and objectives of the movement with emphasis on the fact that ANIYOM is out to put an end to bad leaderships and to task political office holders to rendering stewardship of their services to the people they are representing.

All the 27 traditional rulers in Akoko North West were present during the visit of ANIYOM team from across Akoko North West and Akoko North East Local Government Area of the state.

Adojutelegan noted that there used to be this saying by the elders who have been deceiving them that Youths are the leaders of tomorrow and with this saying, we have seen so many elders that have been in power since we were born and they are still in power till date.

“So our Kabiyesi’s, we are here to tell you that it’s Youths O’Clock and that the leadership of tomorrow is now as been demonstrated by one of us in person of Hon.Dr Bunmi Tunji-ojo who is presently representing us at the Federal House of Representatives and his performance in the two and half years have surpassed any of those elders who have represented us in the past years.

“Our very revered Kabiyesi’s ,we the Intellectual youths of Akoko North West and Akoko North East hereby humbly present ourselves for leadership positions and we are seeking your Royal blessings.”

To buttress this, Comrade Ayodeji Opeyemi while appreciating the Kabiyesi’s for the privilege given to ANIYOM to visit the Royal fathers stated that the movement will roll out drums to support any performing political office holders either selected, appointed or elected and we shall mobilize all tendencies to vote out or remove any political office holders that is not performing or living up to expectations.

In his response, the chairman of Akoko North West Pelupelu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Andrew Momodu, the Akala of Ikaram Akoko appreciated the initiative and bold step taken by ANIYOM to save the society from selfish political office holders who when voted or appointed into public office to served the people only get there to service their pocket and their immediate family alone.

He equally promised to mobilized support for any performing political office holder as in the case of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji ojo who is making Akoko North Federal Constituency proud in all ramifications

Also in his contribution, His Majesty, Oba Awojulu, the Oludo of Ido Okeagbe encouraged the youths to emulate the performing MHR representing Akoko North Federal Constituency at tge Green Chamber who he described as a well exposed and highly connected young man that is using his God’s giving talent to network and bring dividend of democracy to the nukes and cranes of Akoko Land.

Oba Awojulu however pledged on behalf of others Kabiyesis to support the aspirations of any members of ANIYOM in any capacity now and in the nearest future.

The Alafin of Afin Akoko, His Royal Highness, Prof. Oba Abdulraheem Mustapah prayed for the success of ANIYOM on behalf of others Oba’s.
