The candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the recently concluded Anambra State governorship election, Chioma Ifemeludike, has stated that despite her poor showing at the poll, she remains “a winner.”

She made this known on Sunday in a post she shared on her X page after losing to the incumbent governor and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

Earlier, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the APGA flag-bearer as the winner of the election, saying he secured 422,664 votes to win the poll.

The electoral body went on to announce that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, came second with 99,445 votes.

The commission, however, noted that Ifemeludike pulled just 292 votes during the Saturday off-cycle gubernatorial poll.

Reacting to the declaration, Ifemeludike, who gained traction online during the campaign for her unconventional photos and videos, insisted that her modest tally represented a symbolic victory rooted in principles rather than political machinery.

The AAC candidate added that she was satisfied with her performance and noted that her campaign was conducted without malpractice.

She maintained that her participation in the race underscored the importance of sincerity, courage, and clean politics, even in an environment dominated by bigger political parties.

Speaking via her verified social media page, Ifemeludike wrote, “Integrity stands firm and higher than political deception. I’m a winner!”
