Amusan emerges Team Nigeria’s 2024 Paris Olympics flag bearer

Amusan, who is the reigning world champion in the 100m hurdles, is one of Nigeria’s brightest medal prospects in this year’s Olympics

World record holder in women’s 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan has emerged as Team Nigeria’s “flag bearer” for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games.

The West African country will also be captained by Nigerian Badminton star, Anuoluwapo Opeyori.

Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) press officer, Tony Nezianya, announced the decisions via a statement he issued and made available to journalists recently.

Amusan, who is the reigning world champion in the 100m hurdles, is one of Nigeria’s brightest medal prospects in Paris.

She will in addition to donning Nigeria’s colours in women’s 100m hurdles, be expected to represent the country in relay races at the event.

Opeyori, on the other hand, is an experienced badminton player who has been representing Nigeria since 2017.

He won the African Championships and African Games in the singles event in 2019 and also competed at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The 2024 Olympic Games will officially kick-off in Paris, France capital on Friday.
