Amaechi also acknowledged that the Buhari government, like the current Tinubu administration, was already planning to remove the fuel subsidy.

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has compared the administration of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari to that of the incumbent, Bola Tinubu, noting that Nigerians were better off under the former.
He made this known on Tuesday at the ongoing electoral reform protest taking place at the National Assembly in Abuja.
The protest, branded “Occupy the National Assembly”, attracted a large turnout of Nigerian youths who gathered to express concerns over what they perceive as threats to credible elections and democratic accountability.
While speaking at the gathering, Amaechi said living conditions under the current administration have deteriorated significantly for Nigerians, in contrast to Buhari’s tenure.
He, however, acknowledged that, just like the current government, the administration in which he served was also planning to remove the fuel subsidy.
“Is life easier now than when I was in the APC? Life is worse now than during the time of former President Buhari, even though we were planning to remove the subsidy,” the former Rivers State governor said.
The Nigerian Senate’s decision to exclude real-time electronic transmission of election results from the Electoral Act sparked widespread public anger, fueling the ongoing protests.
