Former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, has justified his decision to resign his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former governor of Rivers State explained his decision to exit both parties on Friday while appearing as a guest on Channels Television.
When asked why he left, Amaechi—who is now a key presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—claimed that former president Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan, chased him out of the PDP.

On why he parted ways with the APC, he said he found himself in a similar situation after contesting the party’s presidential primary election against the current president, Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during the interview, he explained his frequent movement from one party to another, saying: “I was chased out of the PDP and APC by the then presidents.
“The president and his wife took over the party structure in Rivers State and chased me out. The same thing happened in the APC.”
