Akpoti-Uduaghan denies Sallah visit was political rally

By Jeffrey Agbo

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has dismissed claims that her recent visit to her hometown was politically motivated.

She clarified that her trip on April 1, 2025, was solely to celebrate Sallah with her constituents and had no underlying political agenda.

Her response comes after allegations surfaced that attendees were financially induced to participate in the gathering—an assertion she strongly refuted.

“This was a celebration of unity and shared love, not politics,” she stated. “The people who welcomed me did so of their own free will, and I deeply appreciate their sacrifice.”

Despite a government-imposed restriction on vehicular movement, thousands of supporters navigated bush paths on foot to receive her with a rousing welcome. The senator, who arrived by helicopter, was greeted with overwhelming cheers.

Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that the crowd comprised residents from the five local government areas within Kogi Central, representing only a fraction of her overall supporters. She emphasised that their turnout underscored her widespread influence in the region.

Expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support, Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to her constituents. “Your presence here today, despite the challenges, humbles me,” she said. “It only strengthens my resolve to continue working tirelessly for the progress of our land.”
