Godswill Akpabio is yet to react personally but his wife Ekaette – ostensibly with the approval of the Senate President – has filed two separate lawsuits against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) over alleged defamation and violation of fundamental human rights in Natasha’s sexual allegations.
The filing at the Federal Capital Territory High Court (FCT), Abuja follows claims by Natasha that her alleged harassment and intimidation in the Senate by Akpabio is because she rejected sexual advances from him.
In Ekaette’s first suit on fundamental rights violation (No: CV/814/25), she accused Natasha of making false and scandalous statements that cause emotional trauma for her and her children, leaving them in fear for their lives.
She asked the court to declare the statements a violation of her right to dignity under the Constitution and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
She is also seeking ₦250 billion in compensation and a perpetual injunction to stop Natasha from making further damaging claims, according to reporting by The PUNCH.
In a separate defamation suit (No: CV/816/25), Ekaette challenged Natasha’s claim that her husband made sexual advances toward her.
She described the allegations as false, malicious, and damaging, saying they have brought her family into disrepute and public shame.
The plaintiff asked the court to order Natasha to issue a public apology in two national newspapers, The Guardian and ThisDay, and pay ₦1 billion in damages.
“The allegations have caused untold pain and emotional trauma to me and my family,” Ekaette said in the suit.
Before the lawsuit, Ekaette had declared that “My husband is a disciplined man who respects women” and threatened to drag Natasha to court.
Natasha herself has already sued Akpabio over alleged defamation of her character in a Facebook post.
