* Allegation against me reckless, untrue —Ondo Dep Governor

By Julius Alabi, Akure

Ondo State Government has cried out that the state Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi is planning to sponsor two protests simultaneously in Akure and Abuja to force Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to handover to him.

It said the uncovered planned protests tagged “Occupy Alagbaka Government house,”according to the state government is one of the tactics deployed by the Deputy Governor to get to power desperately.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo while addressing newsmen in Akure yesterday, July 5, said it is morally wrong for a sitting deputy Governor to ask his principal to handover to him when he is still alive.

Ojogo alleged that the Deputy Governor has perfected plans to

release funds for the two protests in Akure and Abuja on Wednesday.

The commissioner appealed to the Deputy Governor to reduce his level of desperation to become the Governor at all costs

He said all the distractions from Agboola Ajayi will not affect the running of Government in the state

He noted that it is saddening that the Deputy Governor wants the Governor dead so that he can take over power in the state.

Ojogo urged the deputy Governor to follow the path of honour by resigning honourably.

He said, “The Deputy Governor should resign honourably if he is a man of honour.

” The Governor is not interested in the impeachment of Agboola Ajayi who is already drowning . You don’t argue with a drowning man.

“The executive has more business to do than sponsoring his impeachment. That’s the business of the State House of Assembly”.

But in his reaction on behalf of the Deputy Governor, his Chief Press Secretary, (CPS), Babatope Okeowo described the allegation as unfounded and reckless.

According to him, the Deputy Governor doesn’t need to organise protests before the constitution will take its course since the governor is sick.

“The statement and allegation from the Commissioner is reckless, the Deputy Governor was elected. We have seen similar situation in Kaduna, (Governor Nasir) Elrufai and even in Ebonyi state (governor), they contracted COVID-19 and they handed over to their deputies.

“So, no plan whatsoever to organise a project by the Deputy Governor. It is an unfounded and reckless allegation” Okeowo added
