Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, said the projects comprise 66.421 kilometres of new roads and 34.615 kilometres of rehabilitation and reconstruction works.

He explained that the initiative aligns with the state government’s development blueprint to enhance connectivity, ease vehicular movement, promote trade, and open up rural and semi-urban areas for economic growth.

“The Aiyedatiwa administration is taking deliberate steps to close infrastructure gaps. The newly approved road projects cut across key local government areas and will have far-reaching impacts on commerce and the daily lives of residents,” Olawoye said.

Similarly, the Council reviewed ongoing projects such as the construction of a flyover and junction improvement at Onyeagbulem–Shagari/Irese Road along Ilesha–Akure–Owo Expressway, the 8.135 km dual carriageway from Oba Adesida to Ijoka, and several other internal roads within Akure metropolis.

Beyond road projects, the Council approved significant infrastructure upgrades across several government institutions. These include construction of a 216-bed hostel at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.

Construction of a two-storey building for the Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission and renovation and upgrading of key government buildings, including those of the Hospital Management Board (HMB), Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Women Affairs, and the Ministry of Lands and Housing.

According to Olawoye, these projects are aimed at providing conducive work environments, improving public service efficiency, and enhancing the overall aesthetics of government facilities.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, announced the appointment of three new traditional rulers across the state.

They include Prince Emmanuel Adetutu Ifasole as the Akinuwa of Ipindo in Ondo West Local Government Area, Prince Bamikole Adeyefa as the Elemure of Emure-Ile in Owo Local Government Area and Prince Akintoye Felix Adeoye as the Oloke of Okeigbo in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, described the latest approvals as evidence of the administration’s unwavering commitment to deliver tangible results and people-focused governance.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa is resolute about projects that have direct impacts on the people. These infrastructural initiatives are part of his broader vision to create a more prosperous, connected, and inclusive Ondo State,” Ajanaku said.
