The appointment, which takes immediate effect, followed the recommendation of the institution’s Governing Council in line with the University’s Act and other extant regulations.

The Council, chaired by Dr. Tunji Abayomi, had shortlisted candidates for the position, with Professor Obamuyi emerging first among 15 contenders interviewed by the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board.

Professor Obamuyi, a renowned scholar in Banking and Finance, will succeed the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga Ige.

He urged Professor Obamuyi to uphold the core values of AAUA while fostering peace, innovation, and collaboration among staff, students, and other stakeholders.

The governor further reaffirmed the commitment of the Ondo State Government to providing the necessary support for the university to sustain its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading state-owned institutions.
