Agency rescues Ghanaians trafficked to Lagos and incarcerated in residential building

Ten Ghanaian victims of human trafficking found locked up in a three-bedroom apartment in Mowe, Obafemi Owode Council of Ogun have been rescued by the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, codenamed So-Safe Corps.
A statement issued by Moruf Yusuf, Assistant Commander of the Corps’ Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations, recounted that the victims were lured from Ghana with false promises of employment but were instead held captive.
Corps Commander Soji Ganzallo said the operation was carried out following credible intelligence.
“On April 19, 2025, operatives of the Corps received critical intelligence about the victims’ location. The Owode-Egba Zonal Command, led by Assistant Commander Rasaki Jimoh, was immediately mobilised,” Ganzallo narrated.
On April 20, around 10 am, he added, a joint operation involving So-Safe Corps and the police Redeemed Division, stormed the building and rescued the victims.
“The team also apprehended individuals believed to be involved in the criminal act,” he said.
Among those rescued were three females and seven males, including a Nigerian man who was the security guard of the building.
Those rescued and apprehended include Frank Adjei, 45; Emmanuel Agyapong, 50; Adam Zakari, 33; Benjamin Etuah, 20; Asamoah Kwaku, 53; Yusuf Kasim, 27; Ogunle Damola, 32; Gift Dzakpasu, 21; Susana Ampons, 35; and Anita Otaibu.
Ganzallo said all the 10 people have been handed over to the police, Redeemed Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
