The President of AthIetics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Chief Tonobok Okowa has assured that the federation will give AthIetes opportunities to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games by providing competitions in and outside the country.
Chief Okowa who is also the President of Africa Zone ll AthIetics Confederation said the Championship slated for Ghana this week is another window available for more Nigerian’s to qualify.
He further called on the business community and kind hearted individuals to rally round in making funds available for Sports development in Nigeria.
“Sports development in a country like Nigeria cannot be left for an individual except with the involvement corporate organisations.
“Therefore, I’m calling on all sports loving Nigerians to assist in making funds available through their foundations for sports development in the country.
“We have many talented sports men and women that require help to develope their talents, such talents would further provide for their families and Nigeria would have lesser problems to deal with.”
Meanwhile, 22 AthIetes and officials left Nigeria on Sunday for Ghana to participate in the Africa Senior Zone ll AthIetics championship which begins on Tuesday where they are expected to seek qualifications for Paris Olympics
