Human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is yet to release the car and phone of social media influencer, Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan despite granted him bail.

He made this known recently while giving an update on his bail condition.

TheNiche had earlier reported that VeryDarkMan was finally released from the anti-graft agency’s detention on Wednesday after spending five days.

His release was announced on by former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, via his X handle.

“Thanks to unrelenting efforts of all @thatverydarkman has been released from unjust detention at the @officialEFCC. He is with his ebullient lawyer, @adeyanjudeji,” Sowore tweeted.

Also confirming the release, VeryDarkMan’s lawyer, Adeyanju, expressed gratitude to Nigerians and various public figures who spoke up in support of his client.

However, while recounting what transpired while securing his bail, Adeyanju, noted that his phone and car are still with the agency.

“Despite everything that has happened, I still like the EFCC Chairman. And there was no condition for VDM’s bail. I was the one who applied for his bail, and I made an undertaking to produce him anytime he is needed. His phone and car are still with EFCC.” he said.

VeryDarkMan was picked up on Friday after visiting GTBank with his mother to complain about an alleged deduction from her account.
