A former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to honour Queen Elizabeth following her death on Thursday.

The former member of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) suggested on Twitter that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) should be renamed Queen Elizabeth University of Nigeria as a way of immortalising the queen.

Garba wrote on Thursday evening, “In order to immortalise Queen Elizabeth, we should rename the University of Nigeria, Nsukka to Queen Elizabeth University of Nigeria since it is the first University in Nigeria.”

The politician, who dumped the APC and returned shortly, said if he were Nigeria’s president he would declare three days of national mourning for Queen Elizabeth II.

“If I’m the President of Nigeria today, I’ll declare 3 days of National Mourning for the death of The Queen Elizabeth II of England,” he tweeted.

Garba also reacted to the comments made by a Nigerian-born US associate professor, Uju Anya, hours before the death of Elizabeth.

Garba said: “Uju Anya is not the kind of Nigerians we expected her to be. Why would she invoke such a wicked prayer on a reverend personality like Queen Elizabeth?”

He alleged that Uju was a supporter of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and that the associate professor took her “Obidient attitude” internationally.

His words: “As Peter Obi’s supporter, she’s taking her Obidient attitude beyond the shores of Nigeria. Too too bad!”
