Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington has said that her husband, singer Olubankole Wellington—popularly known as Banky W—was not her ‘ideal’ partner, but added that, despite this, their love has continued to grow stronger nearly a decade into their marriage
She made this known recently during an interview hosted by comedian Teju Babyface, alongside her husband.
According to Adesua, she never bargained to walk down the aisle with a man who is an artist, pastor, or politician, but ended up settling for Banky W because of divine instruction.
“Before I met my husband, I told God I didn’t want to marry a musician, a pastor, or a politician, but God gave me all three,” she said.

On his part, the Afrobeats star revealed that Adesua eventually confirmed he was her husband after several rejections.
Banky W further explained that he had known she was his wife for a year and a half, but was waiting for her to be on the same page.
He said, “Adesua called me on the phone one day and said, ‘Banky, you know you’re my husband, right?’”
He went on to say that the actress’s confirmation further strengthened his own conviction, and they subsequently married.
The relationship, which culminated in marriage in 2017, is blessed with two children.
