Yul Edochie preaches patriotism among Nigerians

Yul Edochie gave the advice after the House of Representatives rejected a bill seeking to ban children of public officers from studying abroad

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, on Thursday branded those sending their kids abroad as Nigerians who are unpatriotic or those who are not interested in building the country.

The 40-year-old took to his verified Twitter page to make this known, arguing that though he could afford to send his kids abroad to study, he’ll rather they study in Nigeria.

This is coming in the wake of the House of Representatives rejection of a bill seeking that children of public officers should be barred from enrolling in schools outside the shores of the country.

The bill had faced stiff opposition at the second reading on Thursday and It was the second time the bill sponsored by a member of the House, Sergius Ogun, will be rejected.  

Yul noted that since his foreign counterparts are not sending their kids to Nigeria to study, it will be morally wrong for him to send children to their own countries.

He went on to say that for Nigerians to build the country, their children must study at home as it is the only way such a person can love the country.

Edochie tweeted, “Show me an American actor whose child is schooling in Nigeria and I’ll send my daughter abroad to study. That’s what I told my wife.

“I can afford to send my kids abroad to study. God has blessed my hard work. But no, they’ll all study here. To build Nigeria, we must love Nigeria.”

TheNiche had earlier reported that Yul Edochie expressed interest in becoming the President of Nigeria and solicited the support of his fans and Nigerians at large.
