Fabiyi formally requested that Osoba’s burial, scheduled for 13 August, be halted until an autopsy and thorough police investigation have been completed.

Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has called on the Nigerian Police to investigate the cause of death of movie star Temitope Osoba and ensure an autopsy is performed before she is laid to rest.
The thespian, who claimed to serve as convener and president of a human rights organisation named “Break The Silence Foundation”, made the demand on Sunday, 10 August 2026, via his official Instagram handle.
TheNiche had earlier reported that popular actress Temitope Osoba recently passed away at the age of 40 after surviving a breast cancer scare.
Following her death, several people have come forward to identify what caused her demise. While some traced it to her battle with cancer, her family debunked this without stating what led to her passing.
Offering his version of events following allegations that he maltreated the late actress, her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, claimed she died inside a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State, rather than from complications linked to her earlier battle with cancer.
Speaking during a recent interview, he said, “In my own understanding, Temitope did not die from cancer. I received a call around midnight from someone who told me she had died at a police station in Ikorodu.”

However, wading into the saga, Fabiyi formally requested that her scheduled burial for 13 August be postponed until an autopsy and thorough police investigation have been completed.
According to an official letter from the foundation, referenced BTSF/EXT/VOL/2343, dated 10 August 2026, and addressed to relevant authorities, he called for the burial to be put on hold for now.
In the trending post, he noted that the circumstances of Osoba’s death raise enough questions to warrant a formal inquiry before her remains are interred.
Fabiyi further noted that the deceased appeared to have made efforts to leave traces that could assist investigators, and stressed that rushing the burial could compromise any chance of establishing the truth.
”If the autopsy is not ongoing, please let it be done before burial,” he wrote. “Do not hurriedly bury, so there won’t be a need to disrupt her peaceful rest. A little patience is required.”
He went on to confirm that his organisation intends to engage directly with the Lagos State Police Command to track the progress of any ongoing investigation and determine whether foul play was involved in Osoba’s death.
”As a human rights organisation, we will be initiating a very crucial follow-up with the Lagos State Police Command on the progress of the investigation to ascertain if there is any foul play,” Fabiyi added.
