Active phone voice subscription rises to 224.71m

Active phone voice subscription rises 0.96% YoY

Active telephone voice subscriber numbers jumped 0.96% year-on-year (YoY) from 222,571,568 in the fourth quarter of (Q4 2022) to 224,713,710 in Q4 2023, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has disclosed.

The number rose 1.33 per cent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ), according to “Telecoms Data: Active Voice and Internet per State, Porting and Tariff Information (Q4 2023)” released by the NBS.

“The total number of active voice subscribers was 224,713,710 in Q4 2023 from 222,571,568 recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2022, indicating a growth rate of 0.96%. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, this rose by 1.32%,” it said.

Active internet subscribers increased 5.81 per cent YoY from 154,847,901 in Q4 2022 to 163,838,439 in Q4 2023, and 2.29 per cent QoQ.

  • Ogun –  9,570,463
  • Kano – 9,031,581

  • Zamfara – 1,959,252 
  • Bayelsa – 1,193,525

NBS said MTN maintains its status as the telecom service provider with highest share of subscriptions in Q4 2023.
