Abuja, Cross River, Adamawa top bus fare list

Road commuters in Cross River, Adamawa States, and Abuja paid the highest bus fare within city in February, the latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) show.

Abuja commuters paid N257.50 on average, those in Cross River paid N223.33 and Adamawa residents paid N200.

Borno, Yobeand Plateau residents enjoyed the lowest bus fare within city paying N68.75, N60 and N78.57 respectively.

Average fare paid by commuters for bus journey increased 0.01 per cent month-on-month and 50.42 per cent year-on-year to N122.85 in February 2017 from N122.83 in January 2017.

Fare for intercity bus journey dropped by 1.31 per cent month-on-month but increased by 26 per cent year-on-year to N1,411.87 in February from N1,430.63 in January.

Again Abuja topped the list with highest bus journey within city with commuters paying N4566.67, followed by Adamawa (N3,350), and Niger (N2,337.50).

Kano, Ebonyi and Abia road travellers paidthe lowest bus journey fare within city, at N850, N750 and N683.33 respectively.

Average fare paid by air travellers for single journey dropped 0.24 per cent month-on-month butincreased 27.34 per cent year-on-year to N30,718.10 in February from N30,793.43 in January.

Edo, Bornoand Cross River topped the list with the highest air fare of N40,000, N35,878 and N35,758 respectively.

Travellers in the North Western states of Kano, Kaduna, and Katsinaenjoyed the lowest air fare of N25,227.56, N23,308.48 and N21,000 respectively.

Motorcycle taxi riders paid a little less as fare dropped 0.31 per cent month-on-month but increased24.53 per cent year-on-year to N93.93 from N94.22 in January.

Residents of Rivers, Abia, and Edo saw more naira leave their pockets per drop for journey by motorcycle for N152.50, N151.25 and N150.83 respectively.

Ekiti, Zamfara, and Niger residents paid lesser per journey at N53.67, N54.09 and N58.00 respectively.
