The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, has congratulated a former head of the institution, Prof. Femi Mimiko, mni, on his elevation to the prestigious traditional title of Lisa of Ondo Kingdom, describing him as an accomplished scholar and administrator whose wealth of experience would strengthen traditional leadership in the ancient town.
Mimiko was elevated to the revered position by the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Adesimbo Kiladejo, CFR. The Lisa is regarded as the foremost traditional chieftaincy title in Ondo Kingdom and the traditional Prime Minister, ranking immediately after the Osemawe.
In a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Obamuyi described the new Lisa as a cerebral academic, accomplished researcher and administrator par excellence whose contributions to the development of AAUA remained significant.
He recalled Mimiko’s tenure as the university’s fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor between 2010 and 2015, noting that his leadership left the institution in a considerably stronger position than he found it.
According to Obamuyi, Mimiko’s record in university administration, coupled with his national and international academic exposure and longstanding commitment to community service, places him in a strong position to discharge the responsibilities associated with his new traditional office.
He expressed confidence that the former vice-chancellor would bring the same intellectual depth, administrative competence and dedication that characterised his years in academia to bear on his new assignment as the traditional Prime Minister of Ondo Kingdom.
The AAUA vice-chancellor also acknowledged Mimiko’s achievements during his tenure as the university’s chief executive and chief academic officer, expressing appreciation for the contributions he made to the institution’s growth and development.
Obamuyi wished the new Lisa a peaceful, fruitful and long reign, expressing optimism that his elevation would further strengthen the traditional institution and enhance the development of Ondo Kingdom.
Before his latest elevation, Mimiko had held the traditional honorary titles of Gbobaniyi and Jomulaja of Ondo. His installation as Lisa represents a further recognition of his standing and contributions within the kingdom.
Mimiko, a respected academic and university administrator, served as AAUA vice-chancellor from 2010 to 2015, a period during which he was responsible for steering the institution’s academic and administrative affairs.
