Basketball loving fans in Lagos have blamed Nigeria’s D’Tigers for the defeat suffered in the hands of their Egyptians counterparts in the semifinal of the men’s basketball event of the 2015 All Africa Games (AAG) in Congo Brazzaville.
The Afrobasketball champions met a strong resistance in emerging powerhouse of African basketball, Egypt, who narrowly defeated D’Tigers 61-60 in a closely fought semifinal at the Makelekele Sports Centre last Wednesday night.
Kunle Enigbokan one of the team’s followers in a chat with our correspondent said: “Despite some questionable calls by the arbiters, the Nigerian dunkers should have themselves to blame for their inability to pick the game.
Humphrey Nwosu, another follower said: “Time and time again, D’Tigers failed surprisingly though, to take advantage of the several free throw opportunities they got while the Egyptians made a far better success of theirs as well as scoring on fast breaks with effortless ease.
Their views were also shared by other followers like Lanre Akosile; Ndidi Anunuma; Grace Njoku to mention but few.
It would be recalled that before the match, D’Tigers captain, Olumide Oyedeji, had stated that playing Egypt in the semifinal would not be easy but is confident the players will give their best to win the game and move to the final.
